Palestinian medical sources have confirmed that a former political prisoner, shot and injured prior to being abducted by Israeli soldiers, has succumbed to the severe wounds he sustained on February 2, 2024.

Sources at Beit Jala Governmental Hospital reported on Tuesday that Kathem Issa Zawahra, 31, passed away at the medical center.

They explained that Israeli soldiers had shot and critically injured Zawahra, a resident of Beit Ta’mar village near Bethlehem, before abducting him.

The same attack also claimed the lives of Zawahra’s brother, Mohammad Zawahra, and another young man, Ahmad Al-Wahsh.

Following the incident, Zawahra was transferred to Hadassah Medical Center in occupied Jerusalem, where he remained in critical condition.

Recently, he was moved to Beit Jala Governmental Hospital after the Israeli military authorized his release, acknowledging that his survival depended solely on life-support machines.

In a joint statement, the Palestinian Detainees’ Committee and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society held Israel accountable for Zawahra’s death and expressed concern for the welfare of dozens of other wounded and imprisoned Palestinians.

At dawn Tuesday, a young man was killed, and three others were injured, by Israeli occupation forces in Qalqilia, in the northwestern part of the West Bank.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced, at dawn on Tuesday, the killing of Khaled Saleh Qaraan (25 years old), and the injury of three others, by Israeli occupation forces’ bullets, during their raid into the city of Qalqilia.
