On Monday morning the wounded, Wafaa Nayef Zahdi Jarrar, 50, succumbed to her critical injuries, in the northern West Bank city of Jenin.

Jarrar sustained critical injuries during her abduction by Israeli forces on May 21, 2024, during a military incursion into the city of Jenin and its refugee camp.

Later the army announced her injury and issued an administrative detention order against her for four months.

On May 21, 2024, Israeli forces invaded the city of Jenin and its camp, and abducted her after storming and ransacking her home, stealing gold and money.


Hours later, the “Israeli Military Liaison” informed her family that an explosive device targeted a military jeep in which Jarrar was being held.

Jarrar underwent an operation to amputate her legs “due to the injury she sustained after her arrest by the occupation forces on May 21”.

The army placed her under Administrative Detention for 4 months, despite her critical health condition, and only her lawyer was allowed to see her.

Jarrar’s daughter said “She had a broken knee and a broken rib” and added that the authorities withheld information about the her condition.

Israeli authorities released Wafaa on May 30, 2024, and handed her over to the Palestinian side, where she was transferred to Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin.

It is important to mention that Jarrar is the wife of the detainee, Abdul Jabbar Jarrar, 58, a leader in the Hamas movement, has been held by Israeli authorities under Administrative Detention since February 2024.
