Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) welcomed, on Friday, the letter signed by 64 US lawmakers concerning the Israeli crime of home demolition, systematically perpetrated against Palestinian families, the Palestinian WAFA News Agency reported.
Dr. Ashrawi said in a statement; ‘This overdue scrutiny should be the beginning of accountability for Israel’s unchecked crimes, often overlooked by the US Congress. Home demolitions, forced transfers and collective punishment are serious crimes and constitute a grave violation of both international law and international humanitarian law.’
The statement continued; ‘Using American taxpayers’ money to commit these crimes is also in violation of the requirements of the Arms Export Control Act, which entails that US-supplied military equipment to Israel should only be used for true self-defense.’
