Israel’s intensified settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories is part and parcel of its annexation plan, Saeb Erekat said on Thursday, the Palestinian WAFA News Agency reported.
Erekat, the secretary general of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) stated “This is not an isolated event, but is taking place in the context of an Israeli annexation plan presented as a US peace initiative,” with the goal of normalizing Israeli crimes, continued annexation, apartheid and denial of Palestinians’ inalienable rights.
He added “The international community has the responsibility to act, including by imposing sanctions, in order to save the prospects of a just and lasting peace based on international law and relevant UN resolutions.”
