Israeli occupation forces, on Sunday, evacuated a school in the Old City neighborhood of Hebron, southern West Bank, after a suspicious body was found at the entrance to the school.

The school’s principal, Hussein Aamar, told WAFA that the students and staff were evacuated from the Ibrahimi Basic School shortly after the body was detected.

The area surrounding the school, in the heart of Hebron’s Old City, is a frequent target for Israeli settler attacks, for which local sources estimate that the body might have been installed by settlers.

Some 800 colonialist  settlers live in the Israeli-controlled section of Hebron, known as H2, among over 20,000 Palestinians.

Harassment of Palestinians in this area is a daily occurrence, particularly following the departure of the international monitoring team, the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH), earlier in February after Israel refused to extend the team’s mandate.
