On Friday, Israeli soldiers attacked a nonviolent procession against the illegal takeover of Palestinian lands and the uprooting of trees in Tuqu town, southeast of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, before abducting one Palestinian and wounding many others.
Taiseer Abu Mfarreh, the Mayor of Tuqu, said the Palestinians were holding a nonviolent procession in the Rakhma area, east of Tuqu, after illegal Israeli colonizers invaded Palestinian lands and started the installation of an illegal outpost.
Abu Mafarreh said the soldiers abducted a young man, Hasan Mohammad Salahat, 25, and took him to an unknown destination, and caused many others to suffer the effects of tear gas inhalation.
The mayor said that a colonizer installed a tent on Palestinian lands before he and other Israeli assailants cut and uprooted 25 olive trees, in addition to demolishing irrigation well.
Protests also took place in ‘Aida refugee camp, north of Bethlehem, before the soldiers fired many rubber-coated steel bullets, gas bombs and concussion grenades.
