On Sunday night, Israeli occupation forces set fire to a home belonging to the Jawabra family in the Al-Manshiyya neighborhood of Nur Shams refugee camp, located east of Tulkarem in the occupied West Bank’s northwestern region.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames rising across the camp, but access to the area remains extremely difficult due to the tight military siege imposed by Israeli forces.

They added that, during the invasion, the soldiers fired many flares over the refugee camp and surrounding areas.

This incident occurred amid the ongoing Israeli assault and blockade on Nur Shams camp, now in its 260th consecutive day, and on Tulkarem city and its refugee camp for the 273rd day.

All entrances to both camps remain sealed off with earth mounds, concrete blocks, and newly installed iron gates, while the sound of heavy gunfire continues to echo from within.

Military reinforcements have also intensified across Tulkarem and its surrounding areas, particularly in the neighborhoods of Ektaba and Shweika. Israeli armored vehicles patrol the main streets, obstructing the movement of residents and vehicles, contributing to a climate of fear and tension throughout the city.

The prolonged escalation has led to the forced displacement of over 5,000 families—more than 25,000 civilians—from Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps.

Over 600 homes have been completely destroyed, and 2,573 others have sustained partial damage, effectively turning both camps into near-empty zones.

To date, the Israeli onslaught has resulted in the killing of 14 Palestinians, including a child and two women—one of whom was eight months pregnant. Dozens more have been injured or detained, and widespread destruction has ravaged infrastructure, homes, shops, and vehicles.
