On Tuesday, August 12th, 2025, Day 676 of the ongoing Israeli genocide against the Palestinian population of Gaza, the Israeli army continued its bombing and shelling of various parts of the devastated, starved, besieged and surrounded Gaza Strip, killing at least 73 Palestinians, and wounding dozens, mainly children and women. The humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate amidst the deadly Israeli siege; two more children die from malnutrition.

Aseed Bilal Abu Asi (image above), the sole surviving member of his family, died today from injuries he sustained when Israeli occupation forces targeted their tent in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Yunis.

The child Jamal Fadi Al-Najjar, 5 years old, has died from malnutrition and the famine in Gaza imposed by Israel.

Twenty-seven countries and institutions issued a joint statement Tuesday calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and for unhindered access for humanitarian aid.

The statement read: “Humanitarian suffering in Gaza has reached unimaginable levels, and famine is unfolding before our eyes. Urgent action must be taken now to stop and reverse the famine. Humanitarian space must be protected, and aid must never be politicized.”

The statement noted that “the new restrictive registration requirements could soon force key international NGOs to leave the occupied Palestinian territories, potentially worsening the humanitarian situation.” It called on the Israeli government to “grant permits for all international NGO aid shipments, lift obstacles to essential humanitarian actors from operating, and take immediate, sustained, and concrete steps to facilitate safe and widespread access for the United Nations, international NGOs, and humanitarian partners.”

The platform X (formerly Twitter) has announced the suspension of its AI bot, Grok, since Grok has again been found to be telling the truth about events in Gaza. The suspension followed Grok’s response to users who asked why it had been suspended previously. Grok replied that it was for stating that Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza.

A recent medical study published by The Lancet reveals that Gaza is facing a growing threat from antibiotic-resistant infections spreading across the territory. This alarming development signals the potential for more severe illnesses and faster transmission of infectious diseases among the population.

The research analyzed over 1,300 samples collected from Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, highlighting the critical health challenges amid ongoing conflict.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have launched a genocidal campaign against the entire civilian population of 2.3 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing of 61,599 citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 154,088 others, in a preliminary toll, as a number of victims remain under the rubble and on the roads, and ambulance and rescue crews are unable to reach them.

Three Palestinians were also killed, and several others injured, in Israeli bombing of the Al-Moghrabi Street in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza city.

Four Palestinians were also killed and others wounded when the army fired a missile at an apartment in the Sahaba area, in the center of the city.

Medical sources at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, confirmed the arrival of five bodies and multiple injured individuals following an Israeli strike on a tent, housing a displaced family in the Al-Majayda area of Al-Mawasi.

The victims were identified as Maher Abu Latifa, his wife, Sanaa Abu Latifa, their son, Abdul-Rahman Maher Abu Latifa, in addition to Ziyad Suleiman Al-Shawwaf, and Asid Ziyad Al-Shawwaf.

Also in Khan Younis, one Palestinian was killed and several other injured by Israeli military fire near an aid center, south of the city. Six Palestinians were killed near aid-distribution centers across the Gaza Strip.

In a separate attack, medical teams at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City reported the deaths of seven civilians and many injuries after Israeli warplanes bombed two homes one belonging to the Al-Husari family near Al-Farouq Mosque, in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of the city.

In addition, a Palestinian woman was killed and several residents injured in an Israeli bombing of a home in the Daraj neighborhood, east of Gaza city.

In central Gaza, at least four Palestinians were killed, and many injured, when the army fired barrages of live rounds at Palestinians awaiting humanitarian aid near Netzarim corridor.

In addition, the Israeli army wired and detonated several homes and buildings in the southern area of Gaza city.

Furtehrmore, two Palestinian children, Mohammad Zakaria Khudr, only 5 years of age, and Jamal Fadi Najjar, 6. have died due to malnutrition and lack of medical treatment.

The Palestinian Health Ministry has confirmed the deaths of five Palestinians, including two children, from severe malnutrition in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from similar causes to 227, including 103 children.

United Nations humanitarian agencies have issued an urgent appeal following the confirmed deaths of over 100 children in Gaza due to malnutrition since the onset of the genocide in October 2023.

In a statement published late last night on its official website, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) described the grim milestone as “a catastrophic marker that stains the conscience of the international community and demands long-overdue action.”

The World Food Programme (WFP) warned that more than 300,000 children in Gaza are facing extreme risk, with over one-third of the population reporting days without food.

The agency stressed that meeting the nutritional needs of Gaza’s population requires over 62,000 metric tons of food monthly—yet current aid deliveries fall drastically short of the minimum required to sustain nearly two million people.

OCHA reported that on Sunday, the UN and its partners managed to bring limited quantities of food, fuel, and medical supplies through the Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) crossing. However, the shipments were intercepted and offloaded before reaching their intended destinations.

Israeli authorities currently permit the entry of approximately 150,000 liters of fuel per day, far below the threshold needed to maintain life-saving operations. As a result, more than half of Gaza’s ambulances are now out of service due to fuel shortages and lack of spare parts.

Meanwhile, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warned that only 1.5% of Gaza’s agricultural land remains viable, signaling a near-total collapse of the local food production system.

On Monday evening, medical sources at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis confirmed the death of five-year-old Mohammad Zakaria Khader due to starvation and severe malnutrition in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier in the day, health officials reported that the total number of fatalities linked to famine and malnutrition in Gaza has risen to 222, including 101 children. These figures reflect the escalating toll of a humanitarian catastrophe compounded by ongoing military aggression.

The situation continues to deteriorate under a prolonged blockade and critical shortages of food and medical supplies.

On March 2, 2025, Israeli authorities sealed all border crossings into Gaza, effectively halting the entry of humanitarian aid. The closure has led to the rapid spread of famine across the besieged enclave.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) recently warned that malnutrition rates among children under five have doubled between March and June, citing the blockade as the primary driver of the crisis.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also raised alarm over the severity of the situation, reporting that nearly one in five children under five in Gaza City are suffering from acute malnutrition.

The organization emphasized that the deliberate obstruction of aid and prolonged siege have resulted in preventable deaths and irreversible harm to the civilian population.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have launched a genocidal campaign against the entire population of 2.3 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, Israel has killed 61,499 Palestinians, most of them children and women, and injured more than 153,575 others.

These figures remain incomplete, as many victims are still trapped under rubble or lie in inaccessible areas, while emergency and rescue teams face severe constraints in reaching them due to ongoing bombardment and fuel shortages.
