On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, day 669 of Israel’s ongoing genocide against the entire civilian population of the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces dropped bombs on tents of displaced civilians, shot starving civilians desperately seeking food for their families, and starved another 8 civilians to death.

Medical sources announced that 88 Palestinians killed in Gaza by Israeli occupation forces since early Tuesday morning, including 63 aid seekers.

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced on Tuesday the death of eight citizens due to starvation and malnutrition, recorded in hospitals in the Gaza Strip, over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of victims of famine and malnutrition to 188, including 94 children.

It should be noted that the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen, due to the blockade and shortages of food and medical supplies.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have launched a genocide against the Gaza Strip, resulting in the deaths of 61,020 citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 150,671 others, according to a preliminary toll. A number of victims remain under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulance and rescue crews.

A group of UN experts on Tuesday condemned Israel’s escalation of its genocidal campaign against the Palestinian people in Gaza, calling on the international community to end its complicity in the Israeli atrocities as ceasefire talks continue without progress .

“The displacement orders issued by the Israeli authorities targeted the last remnants of the international humanitarian response in Gaza, as well as direct attacks, such as the recent deadly airstrike on the Palestine Red Crescent Society,” the experts said.

They added: “This comes at a time when the people of Gaza—especially children—are dying of starvation en masse, with limited access to food, water, healthcare, and shelter.” The experts continued: “So-called ‘humanitarian pauses’ and airdrops are insufficient to address a crisis of this magnitude. Unrestricted and uninterrupted humanitarian access to Gaza must be allowed.”

The spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza stated that the healthcare system in the Gaza Strip has been completely destroyed.

He said: “We are suffering from the Israeli restrictions imposed on the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip. We have repeatedly warned against the militarization and politicization of humanitarian work in Gaza.”

He added: “We lack the equipment and spare parts needed to repair hospital machines in the Strip.”

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor warned of “unprecedented mass massacres” against civilians in the Gaza Strip if Israel carries out its plan to escalate military operations, especially ground offensives, stressing that the plan “reflects a dangerous level of brutality.”

The rights group stated: “Any new escalation in Israeli military attacks, particularly ground operations in the Gaza Strip, will lead to unprecedented mass massacres against civilians and will completely destroy what remains of the already collapsing humanitarian response efforts.”

According to Al Jazeera, the US leader Donald Trump said Tuesday he will not block Israel’s plan to take over all of Gaza and displace its residents. “That’s going to be pretty much up to Israel,” the US president told reporters. Israel has used forced displacement orders to squeeze Palestinians into ever-shrinking pockets in Gaza, turning 86 percent of the territory into militarised zones.

Channel 13 Israeli News reported that the Israeli political leadership, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, rejected security proposals that would have led to the release of Israeli POWs being held in Gaza, because he wanted to continue the military assault on Gaza.

Seventy percent of Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing extreme weakness from starvation, hindering their ability to access humanitarian aid, the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) said on Tuesday.

“The physical exhaustion is so profound that many are unable to make the long journey on foot to distribution sites or carry heavy loads even if they receive assistance,” said the organisation in a statement as it released the findings of a survey of Palestinians in Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, Gaza City and North Gaza.

“The survey exposes the life-threatening consequences of the American and Israeli-backed distribution scheme and the severe psychological toll on a population with no safe haven,” the statement said.

UPDATED FROM:

1:24 PM REPORT

Since dawn Tuesday, Israeli occupation forces have killed at least 25 Palestinians and injured dozens more in coordinated attacks across multiple areas of the devastated, starved, and besieged Gaza Strip. The strikes targeted tents sheltering displaced civilians and areas near humanitarian aid distribution centers.

Medical sources in Gaza hospitals stated that at least 25 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire, including 14 individuals waiting to receive aid.

Hospitals across the Gaza Strip have also recorded eight additional deaths, including one child, over the past 24 hours due to famine and severe malnutrition, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Health.

With these latest fatalities, the total number of deaths attributed to hunger-related causes since the onset of Israel’s military campaign has risen to 188, including 94 children. Health officials warn that the figures reflect only those who reached medical facilities, suggesting the actual toll may be significantly higher.

The Ministry continues to sound the alarm over the collapse of Gaza’s nutrition infrastructure, citing widespread shortages of therapeutic food, infant formula, and essential medical supplies.

Aid agencies have repeatedly called for unrestricted humanitarian access, warning that the territory is approaching the final stage of famine classification, marked by mass starvation and preventable deaths.

Meanwhile, five Palestinians were killed in an Israeli bombardment that struck displacement tents in the Atyaf camp, located in the al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Separately, three Palestinians were shot dead and others wounded by Israeli soldiers near a U.S. aid distribution point on al-Tina Street, also in southern Khan Younis.

In central Gaza, two Palestinians, including one woman, were killed in a strike targeting the Abu Ma’alla area west of the New Camp in Nuseirat refugee camp. A source at al-Awda Hospital confirmed that eight Palestinians were killed and nine others injured by Israeli fire near a humanitarian center on Salah al-Din Street in central Gaza.

In Gaza City, four Palestinians were killed and several others injured in two airstrikes—one targeting a residential apartment in the al-Maqousi Towers, and the other a unit near the Palestine Bank on an-Nasr Street. Additional injuries were reported following Israeli strikes on a residential home belonging to the al-Yaziji family on Nafaq Street, and another apartment owned by the Moshtaha family in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood north of Gaza City.

Furthermore, Israeli forces demolished several homes and residential buildings southeast of Khan Younis.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to convene a high-level security meeting on Tuesday to finalize operational plans for a full-scale occupation of the Gaza Strip.

This follows an official declaration from his office confirming the government’s intent to expand military control across the coastal enclave.

The closed-door session will include Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, and Major General Itzik Cohen, head of the Israeli army’s Operations Directorate.

Sources close to the cabinet indicate that the Israeli military will be instructed to advance into three key areas: additional sectors of Deir al-Balah, which had previously been designated as humanitarian corridors and largely spared from ground incursions; Nuseirat, a densely populated refugee camp in central Gaza; and northern Gaza City, focusing on neighborhoods not yet reached by Israeli troops.

This escalation underscores growing tensions within Israel’s political and military leadership. While Netanyahu continues to advocate for full territorial control, senior military and security officials have expressed concern over the strategic fallout, particularly the risks to Israeli captives still held in Gaza and the long-term implications of a sustained occupation.

Humanitarian observers warn that the proposed expansion could result in the forced displacement of tens of thousands of civilians from areas previously labeled as “safe zones.” Such actions would further compound the humanitarian crisis, obstruct aid delivery, and intensify international scrutiny of Israel’s conduct in the war.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported Monday that an estimated 28 children are being killed every day in the Gaza Strip due to ongoing Israeli bombardment and blockade, now in its 660th day.

Al-Jazeera: Children in Gaza injured by Israeli attacks face severe malnourishment

In a statement, the organization warned that children in Gaza are perishing not only from airstrikes but also from malnutrition, hunger, and the collapse of essential services. “Every day in Gaza, the equivalent of a classroom full of children, about 28. loses their lives,” the statement read.

UNICEF emphasized that Gaza’s children are in urgent need of food, clean water, medical care, and protection. “Most crucially,” the agency stated, “they need a ceasefire—now.”

Separately, the United Nations reported that since May, more than 1,500 people have been killed in Gaza while attempting to access food and humanitarian aid. Many of the deaths occurred near distribution points that have been militarized by Israeli forces or along established UN aid routes.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has waged a genocidal campaign in Gaza, marked by mass killings, deliberate starvation, large-scale destruction, and forced displacement—while defying international calls and legally binding orders from the International Court of Justice to halt these actions.

The ongoing genocide has resulted in more than 210,000 Palestinian casualties, including dead and wounded, most of them women and children. The number of slain Palestinians stands at least at 60,933, with more than 150,027 wounded, over 9,000 reported missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and widespread famine that has claimed countless lives.
