The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated Monday that Gaza is home to one million children, yet not a single safe place remains for them. The agency emphasized that Israeli forces have killed children while they were sleeping, sheltering in schools, waiting for water, or seeking medical help.
In a post published on platform X, UNRWA confirmed that it has provided psychological support to more than 500,000 children in Gaza.

These children have endured extreme trauma, witnessing scenes that no child should ever be exposed to. The agency described the scale of suffering as unprecedented, with entire generations marked by loss, fear, and displacement.

UNRWA reported that children have been killed in their beds, inside UN-run schools, and while standing in line for basic necessities.
Many were targeted while trying to access medical care, despite the collapse of Gaza’s health system and the repeated targeting of hospitals and ambulances.
The agency’s statement comes amid continued bombardment and siege conditions that have rendered Gaza’s civilian infrastructure non-functional.

UNRWA facilities themselves have been hit multiple times, and humanitarian operations are now severely restricted.
The agency has called for immediate protection of civilians, unrestricted humanitarian access, and accountability for attacks on children and aid workers.
As winter approaches, UNRWA warned of an urgent need for shelter materials and basic supplies. With over 67,000 Palestinians killed since October 2023—most of them women and children—and more than 9,500 still missing under the rubble, the agency stressed that the humanitarian collapse is total.
