HEBRON, Wednesday, May 8, 2024 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces today shut down the doors of the old municipality building in the Old City of Hebron, in preparation to take over the building.
WAFA correspondent said Israeli forces welded shut the doors of the old municipality building located in the Ain Al-Askar area near the entrance to Hebron Old City.
Almost a year ago, the occupation forces ordered the Hebron municipality to vacate the building, in preparation for its seizure and handover to Israeli colonists.
Mayor of Hebron, Taysir Abu Sneineh, slammed this Israeli measure as a blatant violation of the properties and facilities of the municipality, stressing that this building is an exclusive Palestinian heritage.
He said that the municipality has filed a case at Israeli courts against the Israeli takeover of the building.
He also affirmed that the municipality has all legal and official documents that prove its ownership of the building.
Mayor Abu Sneineh added that the municipality will continue to follow up on the case through the international community and its institutions to block the takeover decision.
