In response to the US President’s statements regarding the future of the Gaza Strip, worldwide condemnation has been expressed by leaders in Palestine, France, Jordan, Egypt, and others.

The United Nations High Commissioner, Human Rights Watch, and many other international human rights organizations and non-governmental organizations have all rejected the proposal.

Ma’an News reported that the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said that the Palestinians have the right to live in their land, stressing that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian territories.

ARAB 48 reported that Jordan’s Royal Court issued a statement from King Abdullah II emphasizing “the necessity of halting settlement measures and rejecting any attempts to annex lands and displace Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, stressing the necessity of establishing the Palestinians on their land.”

It added that President Trump stated that he wants to “take control” of the Gaza Strip, turning it into the “Riviera of the Middle East,” suggesting that the population of Gaza could move to Jordan or Egypt, both of whom rejected Trump’s proposal.

ARAB 48 reported that the majority of the international community has denunciated the US President’s proposal of take control of the Gaza Strip and forcibly displace its 2 million Palestinians to other countries.

The proposal, revealed by President Trump during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, on Wednesday, ignited international disapproval.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, affirmed that “the forced transfer of populations from occupied territories is absolutely prohibited” under international law, adding that the right to self-determination is “a fundamental principle that must be protected by all states.”

United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, described Trump’s plan as “illegal and completely irresponsible,” and stated that it could “exacerbate the regional crisis and contribute to complicity in the war crimes committed by Israel in recent months.”

The Arab League rejected the proposal, calling it “a legally and morally unacceptable proposal, and a recipe for instability,” adding that the only acceptable solution is “achieving the two-state solution, not promoting a scenario of displacing the Palestinians.”

Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, said that “the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza is completely unacceptable, and the countries of the region cannot accept or even discuss it.”

China, France, Germany, and Spain expressed their rejection of plans to alter the demographic of Gaza, and Italy affirmed that “the only solution is to establish two states, not to impose a new fait accompli.”

Trump said that the war-ravaged territory “should be turned into the Riviera of the Middle East,” and that the Palestinians living in the war-torn Gaza Strip “can live elsewhere, just as refugees have in other parts of the world.”

WAFA reported that France released a statement objecting to the forced displacement of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the illegal settlements, and the unilateral annexation of the occupied West Bank.

The statement added that the forcible transfer of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip would be a serious breach of international law and would violate the Palestinians’ right to self-determination, while destabilizing the region.

WAFA News reported that the director of the Human Rights Watch office in Palestine and Israel, Omar Shakir, told Reuters that the US plan to displace Palestinians in Gaza “would be a morally heinous act.”

WAFA reported that the UN Human Rights Office stated that the right to self-determination is a fundamental principle of international law and must be protected by all states, as recently affirmed by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

In response to the statements made by President Trump, regarding his plans to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, the UN Human Rights Office reiterated that, “Any forced transfer or deportation of persons from an occupied territory is strictly prohibited.”

WAFA News reported that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) affirmed its “categorical rejection of any infringement on the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and any attempt to displace them, and called for the necessity of halting settlement activities that threaten regional stability and undermine the chances of peace and coexistence.”

Ma’an News reported that the Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas, rejected the statements of the US President regarding the proposed transfer of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt or Jordan.

The movement’s spokesman, Hazem Qassem, stated that they “reject Trump’s statements regarding the displacement of Palestinians in Gaza,” adding that the President’s statements are “racist and reflect the absence of moral and humanitarian standards.”

Qassem added that “the occupation’s real goal in its war on Gaza is to displace Palestinians from the Strip.”

WAFA News reported that Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, affirmed that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), being the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, categorically reject calls to take over the Gaza Strip and forcibly displace them from their homeland.

In response to Trump’s calls for displacement, the President said, “We will not allow the rights of our people, for which we have struggled for decades and made great sacrifices to achieve, to be infringed upon. These calls represent a serious violation of international law, and peace and stability will not be achieved in the region without the establishment of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital on the borders of June 4, 1967, based on the two-state solution.”

The Indonesian Foreign Ministry expressed its rejection of any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians, or change the demographic of the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement, the Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that any plans to transfer Palestinians from their lands constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, and a threat to the regional stability.

WAFA News reported that the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate condemned the US President’s statements about “controlling the Gaza Strip and displacing the Palestinian people,” calling them “irresponsible, racist, and aggressive,” and demanded that the US administration retract these statements.

Quds News Network reported that the US Democrat Representative, Al Green denounced President Trump’s remarks threatening the ethnic cleansing of Gaza, and announced that he will bring Articles of Impeachment against him.

In his speech, Al Green said “The movement to impeach the president has begun. I rise to announce that I will bring Articles of Impeachment against the president for dastardly deeds proposed and dastardly deeds done.”
