JPost reports that Israeli military companies sold a total of $7.2 billion worth of military hardware abroad and a further $2.4 billion to the IDF in 2010, according to the Israeli Defense Ministry. With total sales of $9.6 billion in 2010 Israel is said to be in the top four producers of armaments globally.
15 Israeli arms companies are due to market their wares at the Paris Air Show which opens next week.
Of specific interest to arms dealers will be the new “Iron Dome” rocket defense system designed to intercept missiles before they reach their target. Israeli officials claim they have already been successfully used against missiles fired from Gaza in April.
