Israeli police on high alert following Thailand bombing, and Israeli military demolish structures and kidnap a youth in the West Bank, these stories and more, coming up, stay tuned.
Former Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Michael Sabbah said the current municipality of Jerusalem is trying to turn the city into a Jewish one. He told the Italian news Agency AKI, that turning the holy city of Jerusalem into a mono-ethnic city will only cause war instead of stability and peace.
The city should maintain its holistic nature that welcomes all people, and should have a special political status by becoming the capital of both, Palestine and Israel.
The Patriarch expressed disappointment in the Israeli and American rejection of Palestine joining the UNESCO and the attempts to join the UN.
In the northern part of the West Bank, Israeli troops demolished three barracks that belong to three Palestine shepherds.
Palestinian media sources reported that a number of Israeli vehicles and a bulldozer invaded the village of Ji’wana near Nablus and demolished the barracks, where the shepherds used to keep their cattle and sleep as well.
The source also said that troops invaded the village of Zibuba near Jenin and kidnapped a 19-year old student from the village in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
In other news, Israeli police declared maximum alert after the attack that targeted the Israeli embassy in Thailand. The Israeli police said in a statement that it is increasing the alert state in all the country with a special focus on the ports, governmental buildings and foreign embassies.
Israeli officials accuse Iran of standing behind this attack in which five were wounded. Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said it is Iran and its proxies who stand behind this attack and they pose a threat to stability in the region.
Earlier on Tuesday, a man thought to be an Iranian national was seriously wounded in Bangkok when a bomb he was carrying exploded and blew his legs off. Shortly before, there had been an explosion in a house the man was renting in the Ekamai area of central Bangkok.
Chief Palestinian negotiator, Dr. Saeb Ereikat, called upon the International community to intervene to release the Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan from Israeli jail. Adnan has been on hunger strike for 59 days already.
Adnan has been hospitalized as his health condition is deteriorating and he insists on rejecting any medication until he is released.
Ereikat held Israel responsible for the life of Adnan and stressed the need for intervention to pressure Israel to release him in order to save his life.
