A 17-year-old boy has died, after stepping on a landmine in the northern Jordan Valley, Saturday, according to a local activist group.The boy, identified as one Sakher Dorgham Zaamel Abu al-Hasan, 17, was tending sheep in the area of al-Maleh when a mine exploded, fatally wounding him, member of the Save the Jordan Valley campaign Bassam Muslimani told Ma’an News Agency.
Sakher was taken to a nearby military base by soldiers who later contacted his family to inform them of the incident.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld gave his usual response that he was not immediately familiar with the incident.
Family members, who live in tents nearby, are waiting to receive the boy’s body, according to Ma’an.
