The Palestinian Prisoner's Society in Bethlehem issued a monthly report on the total number of the abductees in the West Bank District of Bethlehem during the month of January which amounted to 85 residents including twenty two minors and one girl.

Abdullah Al Zeghari, head of the Prisoner's Society in Bethlehem said that most of the abductees are imprisoned in the detention Center of Kfar Atzion south of Bethlehem, while others were moved to the interrogation centers of Al Maskoubeyah and Asqalan.

In its report, the Society said that the abductions were carried out during repeated invasions by the Israeli army of several refugee camps and villages surrounding Bethlehem city. They were accompanied by armored vehicles and police dogs during invasions, and fired sound bombs and live ammunition at homes before breaking into them and abducting their occupants.

During theses invasions the army abducted (24) residents of the town of Biet Fajjar, (8) from the village of Nahaleen, 15 residents from Ayada refugee camp including a girl identified as Ashjan Abu Surur, a university student and her mother who were moved to Al Maskoubeyah interrogation Center.

The mother of Ashjan was released shortly after paying a fine of (1000) NIS which equals around 235 US$ while Ashjan was moved to the Israeli women's dentition facility of Hasharon. With the abduction of Ashjan, the number of girls from the Bethlehem district alone that are imprisoned in Israeli jails amounts to 14.

Several other residents were abducted from various areas adjacent to Bethlehem, including a man who was identified as Mohammad Abu Zied, from a nearby city of Al Doha. The Israeli army abducted him after firing rounds of live ammunition at his legs and causing serious injuries.
