Palestinian medical sources declared Saturday afternoon that five Palestinian residents were shot dead by Israeli gunfire in northern Gaza Strip.

Dr. Ma’awiya Abu Hasanain, director of emergency department at the Palestinian health ministry, confirmed that four of the wounded sustained moderate injuries, while the fifth was critically wounded.

Israeli occupation forces shelled earlier in the day a number of Shepard, killing one and injuring two others.

Israeli army has recently stepped up its attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 15 Palestinians including civilians and wounding scores others, in what Israel called ‘a response to homemade shells fire on nearby Israeli towns.

Israeli human rights groups urged Israel to stop attacking Palestinian civilians, while the Palestinian Authority condemned the attacks strongly.
