Twenty detainees in Israel’s Majeddo detention center resumed a hunger strike they announced last week to protest the bad living conditions and inhuman treatment they face.
Lawyer Mahmoud Azim, who is representing the twenty detainees, said the army arrested them after claming that they do not carry permits to stay in the country.ÂÂ
Azim said that the twenty detainees had come to the country from Jordan when they were young, with their parents. Israel refused to grant them identity cards, or residency permits, when they got older.
The families applied for Family Reunification permits, but the Israeli court denied their requests, and the Jordanian government refused to host them in Jordan.
Azim added that he will file a petition to the Israeli High Court of Justice on behalf of the families.
