Israeli court sentenced Luay Krunz, from the West Bank city of Ramallah, to life term and 15 years in prison for being involved in killing George Khoury, a Palestinian from Jerusalem.
Khoury was killed in a drive by shooting while he was jogging in the streets of Jerusalem near the settlement of the French Hill in March 2004.
The late president Yasser Arafat vowed to chase the killers and bring them to justice, however the Israeli intelligence were faster.
The other two who were indicted in the killing are Ammar and Sajed Abu Allous and were both sentenced to life terms earlier in April 2004.
Apparently the killers confused him with a settler when they opened fire at him.
Elias Khoury, an attorney from Jerusalem and the father of the deceased said he will do al he can to bring those who killed his son to justice.
On the other hand, Arab Palestinian residents of Israel continue their protest against the Mahash committee, responsible to investigate the killing of 13 Arab residents of Israel in October 2000, to close the investigation.
The Arab member of Knesset Jamal Zahalka said the Israeli committee’s decision was based on assuming that the confrontation between the demonstrators and the police as a military clash with an enemy, where in fact it was a civilian demonstration and those where killed carry Israeli passports.
Tens of thousands of Jewish settlers protested against the unilateral disengagement from the Gaza Strip, some of them stabbed soldiers and splashed chemical material on the police, no single case of shooting was recorded. The police was unarmed when they evacuated the settlers from the synagogues who used them as strong holds to obstruct the evacuation in late August and early September.
