An Israeli military source reported that Israeli artillery fired several bombs at areas in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, after claiming the Palestinian resistance intended to fire homemade shells from these areas.
The source stated that two homemade shells were fired, on Monday at noon, at the Israeli Negev town of Sderot, no injuries were reported.
30 minutes later, two homemade shells were fired at Ashkelon; one shell landed south of Ashkelon, while the other shell hit a kibbutz in the area, no injuries were reported.
Meanwhile, Israeli military sources reported that the military wing of Fateh movement, Al Aqsa Brigades, owns shells which are capable of hitting areas as far as 25 kilometers. This means that the shells can hit cities in the south, such as Nativot, Ofakim, and Keryat Ghat.
Israeli media sources reported recently that the Popular Resistance Committees said that its own shells with improved range that could hit areas which are15km away. Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades said that its shells have 25km range.
Senior leader of Al Aqsa, Abu Fadi, said that “if Israel sets up a security zone in the northern Gaza Strip the group will not sit idly by and will use these shells”
Abu Fadi told a local radio station in Gaza that the brigades will not stand idly while Israel intends to create an isolated zone in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
He warned Israel of implementing this plan or carrying assassinations, and said that every Israeli town around the borders of the Gaza Strip is within the range of the homemade shells.
Also, one of the fighter of the brigades said have shells which are capable of hitting several areas in Israel itself, “but will not use them unless the army invades the Gaza strip, or attempts to reoccupy areas in the north.
