Israeli soldiers obstructed a peaceful procession in the West Bank village of Bil’in, near Ramallah, and fired gas bombs at the residents; several residents suffocated after inhaling gas, and received medical treatment by medics who were present there.
Some 300 local, Israeli and international protestors attempted to reach an area behind the Separation Wall, in an attempt to reach the location where the settles are attempting to expand Modi’in Elit settlement.
One resident, identified as Ra’ed Abu Rahma, was detained for a short period.
Recently the Israeli High Court ordered the army to halt the expansion of the settlement until further developments in the case.
The settlement is constructed on Palestinian orchards which were annexed from the residents of Bil’in and surrounding villages.
The court also barred the settlers from living in the new section, which is still not completed, or provide it with water or electricity.
