Israeli soldiers shot and killed, on Wednesday morning, one Palestinian near the Karni crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip; another resident was seriously injured. This latest incident makes a total of twelve Palestinians killed in recent days.
The army believes that the two were on their way to place an explosive near the "security fence" on Gaza-Israel border.
According to the army, soldiers identified two fighters approaching the fence and opened fire at them killing one and injuring the other.
The killed resident was identified as Mohammad Al Huer, a member of the Al Aqsa Brigades, the military wing of Fateh, while the injured man was identified as Idrees Al Shareef, the Maan News Agency reported.
Soldiers prevented the Palestinian ambulance from approaching the two men for an hour.
Elsewhere in Palestine, Israeli soldiers arrested mine Palestinians in the West Bank on Wednesday morning; six are said to be members of Hamas. The arrests were carried in the West Bank cities of Ramallah and Hebron.
One Tuesday evening, two Palestinians were assassinated after as Israeli war jet fired a missile at their car while driving in Al Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City.
Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan cautioned Israel early Wednesday over its assassination policy.
Annan’s office reported that it noticed that Israel has conducted several assassinations in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in recent days.
