A Palestinian medical source in the Beit Lahia, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip, reported that one ten-year old child was killed, and fifteen residents were injured after the Israeli army shelled with heavy artillery several areas in the city; most of the injured residents are children.
Eyewitnesses reported that one shell exploded in a residential area killing Hadeel Mohammad Ghabin, 6 years old, and injuring at least ten other residents, including children.
Ghabin was killed when a shell, fired by the army, directly struck her parent’s house; several members of her family were injured.
Palestinian medical teams and civil defense vehicles rushed to the shelled areas and evacuated the injured residents.
Ghabin is the fifteen resident killed by the Israeli army over the last three days in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Israeli military sources reported that the shelling comes in retaliation to homemade shells fired at Israeli targets adjacent to the Gaza Strip.
The continuous shelling to the Gaza Strip is centered against areas in the eastern and northern parts of the Gaza Strip. Most of the shelled areas are heavily populated, while Israeli military officials claim that soldiers are shelling open areas.
Earlier on Monday, dozens of Palestinian children protested in front of the United Nations Office in Gaza city and handed the representative of the Secretary General a letter demanding Israel to halt it assaults and continuous violations, mainly the assassinations and the killing of children.
