On Friday, Israeli navy ships fired several live rounds at Palestinian fishing boats near Rafah and Gaza city in the besieged Gaza Strip before abducting four fishermen and confiscating two boats.
Media sources said the navy fired many live rounds and used water cannons against the fishing boats near the Rafah shore, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
They added that the navy confiscated two boats and abducted the four fishermen on board before moving them to Ashdod Port.
After a few hours in captivity, the fishermen were released, but their boats were confiscated.
Also, the navy fired live rounds at Palestinian fishing boats in the Sudaniyya Sea area, northwest of Gaza city, causing damage and forcing the fishermen to return to the shore.
The attacks are part of frequent Israeli violations against the Palestinians, especially the fishermen, farmers, shepherds, and workers in the besieged and impoverished Gaza Strip, and resulted in dozens of casualties, including fatalities, in addition to severe property damage and the confiscation of many boats after abducting the fishermen.
In March of last year, 2021, the Palestinian Interior Ministry in Gaza said Israeli mines were responsible for an explosion that led to the death of three fishermen.
