The Palestinian Center For Human Rights (PCHR): (This weekly report covers 2 weeks due to ‘holidays)

 Violation of the right to life and bodily integrity:

 Eighteen Palestinians, including 3 children, were injured by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF)’s fire, while dozens of others suffocated in IOF attacks in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem. Details are as follows:

On 08 July 2022, 8 Palestinians, including a child, were injured with rubber bullets in clashes after IOF’s suppression of Kafr Qaddoum weekly protest, northern Qalqiliya.

On 15 July 2022, 5 Palestinians, including 2 children, were injured with rubber bullets in clashes after IOF’s suppression of Kafr Qaddoum weekly protest, northern Qalqiliya.

On 17 July 2022, 3 Palestinians were injured with bullets in clashes during IOF’s incursion into Tubas and surrounding a house.  They arrested a Palestinian and later withdrew.

On 18 July 2022, a Palestinian was injured with a rubber bullet in clahses during IOF’s incursion into Kafr ‘Aqab village in East Jerusalem.

On 20 July 2022, during IOF’s incursion into al-Dheisha refugee camp, southwestern Bethlehem, a Palestinian was injured with a bullet in his abdomen, causing him laceration to internal organs.  IOF arrested 4 Palestinians, including a father and his son, and later withdrew.

In the Gaza Strip, on 16 July 2022, a Palestinian was wounded due to scattered rubble by an IOF airstrike on a site belonging to the Palestinian armed groups, western Nuseirat in central Gaza Strip.  Also, windows and doors of 3 nearby houses and a mosque were broken.

Moreover, 9 IOF shootings were reported on fishing boats off the Gaza Strip shore, and 4 other shootings were reported on agricultural lands in western and eastern Gaza Strip.

So far in 2022, IOF attacks killed 66 Palestinians, including 51 civilians: 14 children, 5 women (one was a journalist Shireen Abu ‘Aqlah), a Palestinian stabbed by an Israeli settler and the rest were activists; 6 of them were assassinated. Also, 966 others were wounded in these attacks, including 111 children, 5 women, and 19 journalists all in the West Bank, except 15 fishermen in the Gaza Strip.

Land razing, demolitions, and notices

IOF conducted 8 demolitions that targeted a land, 5 facilities and an agricultural room with its contents. Also, IOF handed 9 construction notices and confiscated 3 tractors in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem. Details are as follows:

On 07 July 2022, IOF vehicles razed a plot of land and demolished a carwash in Nabi Samwil village in occupied East Jerusalem.

On 16 July 2022, IOF confiscated 3 tractors and 3 livestock tents along with their contents.

On 18 July 2022, IOF handed 4 demolitions against 4 houses, a digger, and a concrete slab in Eastern Badiyet Yatta area, southern Hebron.  On the same day, IOF handed 3 notices, including 2 under so-called “cease destruction of monuments” and one to remove a new building.  The notices targeted 5 agricultural facilities, including barracks and livestock barns and tents in Northern Jordan Valleys, eastern Tubas, and confiscated a truck in the area. Also, IOF orally notified a Palestinian to remove greenhouses of 4 dunums in Kardala village in Tubas.

On 19 July 2022, IOF demolished an agricultural room and 4 livestock barns (each is 20 sqms), eastern Yatta in southern Hebron.  IOF’s vehicles also demolished a retaining wall in al-Nejmah area adjacent to the road between al-Za’im and ‘Anata villages, eastern Jerusalem.

Since the beginning of 2022, Israeli occupation forces made 79 families homeless, a total of 448 persons, including 92 women and 217 children. This was the outcome of IOF demolition of 81 houses and 40 residential tents. IOF also demolished 59 other civilian objects, leveled vacant areas of land, and delivered dozens of notices of demolition, cease-construction, and evacuation.

Settler-attacks on Palestinian civilians and their properties:

Settlers damaged 516 trees in attacks that also caused bruises to a Palestinian in the West Bank.  Details are as follows:

On 09 July 2022, a Palestinian sustained injuries and bruises after settlers attacked him between Turmus Ayya and Al-Mughayyir villages, eastern Ramallah.

On 12 July 2022, settlers cut 450 olive, plum, grape and almond trees in eastern Turmus Ayya, Ramallah.

On 18 July 2022, settlers cut and damaged 69 olive and almond trees in Khelet al-Qameh area in Salfit.

On 19 July 2022, settlers attacked a Palestinian with pepper spray while herding sheep near Ibei HaNahal settlement, eastern Bethlehem, noting that he was subject to a similar attack 12 days ago.

So far this year, settlers carried out 159 attacks on Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank. In one of the attacks, a Palestinian was stabbed to death by a settler.

Collective Punishment

On 18 July 2022, IOF informed the family of Prisoner Subhi ‘Emad Sbeihat from Rummana village in Jenin, of their decision to demolish his father and grandfather’s houses. They also informed the family of prisoner As’ad al-Refa’ie that they will demolish their house and ordered them to evacuate their houses as the demolition will be carried out at the end of next month. These demolitions fall under IOF’s collective punishment policy against the families of Palestinians who carried out attacks against IOF or settlers.  It should be noted that IOF accused the 2 prisoners of carrying out an attack that killed 3 israelis in Elad on 05 May 2022.

 So far this year, IOF demolished 6 houses and closed a 7th house after destroying its internal components within IOF’s collective punishment policy while there are many houses threatened with demolitions on the same grounds.

IOF incursions and arrests of Palestinian civilians:

 IOF carried out 275 incursions into the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem. Those incursions included raids and searches of civilian houses and facilities and establishment of checkpoints.

During those incursions, 66 Palestinians were arrested, including 6 children and a woman. Also, on 07 July 2022, IOF conducted a limited incursion into eastern al-Maghazi and arrested 3 Palestinians, including 2 children, during their attempt to infiltrate via the border fence, southern and northern Gaza Strip on 13 and 19 July 2022, and later released them.

So far in 2022, IOF conducted 4,765 incursions into the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, during which 2933 Palestinians were arrested, including 289 children and 26 women.  IOF also conducted 24 limited incursions into eastern Gaza Strip and arrested 60 Palestinians, including 41 fishermen, 28 infiltrators, and 3 travelers via Beit Hanoun “Erez” Crossing.

Israeli collective punishment and closure policy and restrictions on freedom of movement:

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation maintains its illegal and inhuman 15-year closure on the Gaza Strip. Details available in PCHR’s monthly update in the Gaza crossings.

In the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, IOF continues to impose restrictions on the freedom of movement. On top of its 108 permanent checkpoints, IOF established 90 temporary military checkpoints in the West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, and arrested 3 Palestinians.

On 09 July 2022, IOF closed the 3 entrances to Hizma village in East Jerusalem and reopened it later.

On 12 July 2022, Israeli authorities established a military observation post that included fortified rooms and watchtowers in central Jaber neighborhood, east of al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron’s Old City.  This would impose further restrictions on Palestinians’ movement.

On 14 July 2022, IOF closed the iron gate established at the entrance to al-Nabi Saleh village, northern Ramallah, blocking Palestinians’ movement and forcing them to take alternative and dirt roads.

So far in 2022, IOF established 2463 temporary military checkpoints and arrested 114 Palestinians at those checkpoints
