Six residents were injured Monday afternoon when Israeli army tanks shelled the Abraj Al Nada area, north of Beit Lahia, in the Gaza strip.

The residents were injured by shrapnel from tank shells, medical sources reported. Three of the injured were listed as critical and another three were listed in stable condition.  All were taken to nearby hospitals.

Residents described shrapnel from the tank shells flying everywhere after the shells made direct hits to homes in the mostly residential area in the northern Gaza Strip. Several cases of panic, especially among children, were also reported.
