On Friday, Israeli soldiers attacked Palestinian political prisoners in Ramon prison during violent searches of section 5 of the detention facility.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) has reported that the soldiers stormed and searched several rooms in section 5 and assaulted several detainees.
The PPs added that the soldiers also moved a detainee, Mazen Al-Qadi, 43, from his room to a cell in the interrogation section, in addition to placing several detainees in solitary confinement.
It is worth mentioning that Al-Qadi, from Al-Biereh city in the central West Bank, was taken prisoner in 2022 and was interrogated and tortured for 50 days in Asqalan prison. Twenty-one months after his imprisonment, he was sentenced to three life terms and 25 years.
Data by the Ad-Dameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association revealed that Israel is holding captive 5200 Palestinian detainees, including 1264 held under the arbitrary Administration Detention order without charges or trial, in addition to 170 children and 33 women.
