On Wednesday morning, illegal paramilitary Israeli colonizers assaulted an elderly Palestinian woman in a village in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank’s southern part.
Media sources said the colonizers invaded the Maghayir Al-Abeed village in Masafer Yatta before attacking a home and wounding an elderly woman.
Shehada Salama said the colonizers came from the Havat Ma’on illegal colony, built on stolen Palestinian lands, invaded his mother’s home, Nozha Jibrin Khalil Najjar, 75, and repeatedly assaulted her, causing various cuts and bruises.
Shehada added that the colonizers detained his brothers, Najah and Salama, and the home before fleeing the area.
It is worth mentioning that the elderly woman’s home and her land are subject to frequent assaults and violations by the colonizers who constantly try to displace the family and confiscate the lands.
All of Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in and around occupied East Jerusalem, are illegal under International Law, the Fourth Geneva Convention in addition to various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under International Law.
Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits the “individual or mass forcible transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory”.
