Senior Lebanese sources have stated that a report about Hezbollah agreeing to separate the fronts are incorrect, as the official position of the party remains the same as announced by Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem, refusing a ceasefire that does not include the Gaza Strip.
The sources indicate that the party considers a ceasefire as the fundamental basis for negotiations, and no negotiations will take place before a ceasefire is achieved in both Gaza and Lebanon.
Furthermore, communication between Hezbollah and Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri is not as extensive as it was during previous Israeli offensives in Lebanon, due to security considerations.
The media office of the Speaker of the Parliament issued the following statement: “What was reported by one of the media outlets attributed to President Nabih Berri regarding the negotiations is inaccurate.”
Maan News Agency said quoted a report by the Lebanese LBC channel, citing a diplomatic source, that Berri informed the Qataris and Egyptians of Hezbollah’s agreement to separate the fronts and accept Resolution 1701, provided it is part of a comprehensive package.
In related news, a least 18 Lebanese citizens were killed, and many others were injured, Monday, in Israeli airstrikes on various areas in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that “Israeli attacks continued on the villages of Tyre and Bint Jbeil districts from Sunday night until Monday morning, where hostile warplanes raided a building in the city of Tyre near Al-Jawad Restaurant, resulting in the killing of 3 people and several injuries.”
On Monday, Day 388 of the ongoing genocide, Israeli missiles and shells struck various parts of the devastated, starved and besieged Gaza Strip, killing at least 51 Palestinians, and wounding dozens, in various parts of the coastal enclave.
The Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression against the Gaza Strip, by land, sea and air, since October 7, 2023, which resulted in the killing of at least 42,924 Palestinians and the injury of 100,833 others, the majority of whom are children and women, in an incomplete toll, as thousands of people are still missing under the rubble.
Among the slain Palestinians are at least 17,029 children, 11,585 women, 2,421 elderly people, 177 journalists, 85 emergency responders, 986 medical staff, and 203 UNRWA staff.
The British Lancet Medical Journal and other experts estimate the death toll in Gaza is much higher – and could be above 200,000, when counting both direct and indirect deaths related to the Israeli war on Gaza.
This most recent escalation of Israel’s ongoing military occupation of Palestine began October 7th, 2023, when 1,143 Israelis were killed, including 767 civilians and 376 armed soldiers. Around 500 Israeli soldiers have been killed between October 7th and now – both in Gaza and on the Israeli border with Lebanon.
