The Jerusalem Governorate announced the death of Palestinian worker Raafat Abdul Aziz Abdullah Hammad (35 years old), who succumbed to severe injuries after falling from the fifth floor of a construction site in occupied Jerusalem while he was being pursued following being pursued by the Israeli occupation forces.
The brother of the man who was killed, Abdullah Hammad, told the Jerusalem Governorate that the family refused the Israeli occupation authorities’ request to conduct an autopsy on the body, noting that the Israeli military is still withholding his body under the pretext of “identity verification.”
Hammad added that the body of the deceased will be buried in his hometown of Silwad, east of Ramallah, as soon as it is received. He noted that the worker who was killed was a father of three children (the oldest of whom is 6 years old and the youngest of whom is 1 year old).
The Jerusalem governorate stated that this crime “comes within the context of a systematic policy pursued by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian workers, who are forced to endure the risks of jumping over the apartheid wall, while the Israeli forces continue to fire directly at them or target them with tear gas and sound bombs, leading to the killing and injury of dozens over the past months.”
The media department of the Rescue Union – Jerusalem District reported that, “Following the police spokesman’s statement about the death of a Palestinian worker after falling from a window at a construction site on Sheham Street in the town of Mevaseret Zion (west of Jerusalem), Rescue Union paramedics stated that after providing him with first aid at the site, he was transferred to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to his serious injuries.”
According to Israeli police, “While searching a building near Jerusalem, police officers spotted suspects. Upon entering the apartment, one of the suspects, a resident of the West Bank, ran toward a window and jumped out. Medical teams were called to the scene, and the injured man was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.”
Police added that they arrested “four residents of the West Bank, Nablus, and Hebron, on suspicion of residing in Israel illegally, and they were referred to the Interrogation center for Investigation.”
