Palestinian medical sources reported on Tuesday at night that at twelve residents were wounded, four seriously, when the Israeli air force fired missiles at fighters who gathered near a local mosque in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. Five of the injured were wounded in an army shelling to Beit Lahia.Abu Hamza, spokesperson of the Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Islamic Jihad, stated that four fighters were among the wounded.
The Israeli army confirmed the attack and claimed that the fighters were involved in firing homemade shells into adjacent Israeli areas.
Moreover, the army fired artillery shells at Al Shujaeyya neighborhood east of Gaza city.
Eyewitnesses reported that Israeli tanks stationed near the eastern borders of the Gaza Strip fired several shells which landed and exploded in open areas in the neighborhood causing no direct injuries but several children suffered anxiety attacks.
On Tuesday evening, the an Israeli drone fired a missile at a vehicle carrying fighters of the Al Quds Brigades and injured three, one seriously. Two bystanders were also wounded in the attack.
In Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli Navy fired shells at fishing boats at the shore between Khan Younis and Rafah. Damage was reported as several boats caught fire, no injuries. The fishermen had to leave the area in fear for their lives.
Last Saturday, the Israeli air force killed three fighters of the Islamic Jihad and wounded two others.
Several resistance groups in the Gaza Strip stated that their fighters fired several homemade shells into adjacent Israeli areas. The groups stated that the firing of homemade shells comes in retaliation to the ongoing Israeli assassinations, shelling and invasions.
