Israeli occupation forces abducted 33 Palestinian laborers at dawn on Monday from the village of Umm Tuba, south of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank.
Local sources reported that soldiers invaded an apartment in the village and abducted the workers, residents of various parts of the West Bank, under the pretext of not possessing Israeli-issued permits.
In recent months, hundreds of Palestinian laborers have been subjected to abduction and abuse by Israeli police inside the 1948 territories, or by occupation forces in Jerusalem, under the same pretext.
Even workers who hold permits face severe restrictions on their way to work. Their day begins before dawn, often with hours-long waits at military roadblocks, where they are subjected to invasive and punitive searches before reaching their workplaces.
According to a World Bank report, more than 150,000 Palestinian laborers from the West Bank have lost their jobs inside the 1948 territories due to Israeli-imposed restrictions since October 7, 2023.
It is worth mentioning that Israeli soldiers invaded the towns of al-‘Isawiya and Silwan towns, south of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, and closed streets.
Earlier Monday, the soldiers stormed and violently searched dozens of homes in various parts of the occupied West Bank and abducted at least nineteen Palestinians, including siblings.
