On Wednesday Israeli forces commenced the demolition of 25 residential buildings in the Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarem in the northwestern part of the occupied West Bank.
He added that the buildings contain more than 100 apartments belonging to Palestinian citizens who have been displaced from their homes since January of 2025.
The Israeli occupation authorities announced on December 17, their plan to demolish 25 residential buildings under the pretext of “legitimate military necessity”.
Earlier this week, the Adalah Legal Center said that the Israeli Supreme Court upheld the demolition of civilian homes after rejecting an appeal filed by 22 citizens from the Nur Shams camp.
According to an Adalah press release, the Israeli Public Prosecution, during the hearing, acknowledged that the buildings targeted for destruction are civilian homes with no connection to any military activity.
The latest statistics from the Popular Committee for Services in Nur Shams Camp show that occupation authorities forcibly displaced more than 11,500 residents and completely destroyed 750 housing units in the Nur Shams camp.
In a press statement, Tulkarm Governor Abdullah Kamil said that the targeting of the Palestinian presence in the Nur Shams and Tulkarem camps constitutes collective punishment and is in violation of international law, human rights laws, and international conventions and norms.
In a statement, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said “The demolition and forced displacement operations are a flagrant violation of international law and basic human rights, and an additional crime against Palestinian refugees to undermine their cause, in continuation of the Nakba crime that the Palestinian people have been suffering for decades and which has not stopped until now.”
