The Palestinian Jerusalem Governorate has confirmed that Israeli soldiers shot and killed a Palestinian teen in Beit Duqqu, northwest of occupied Jerusalem in the West Bank.
The soldiers initially shot and seriously injured the teen, Mohammad Morad Rayyan, 17, after the army invaded the town, sparking protests.
Eyewitnesses said the soldiers prevented Palestinian medics from reaching the wounded teen before he succumbed to his wounds. The army then placed him on a stretcher and took him away.
During the invasion, Israeli forces carried out wide‑scale home invasions, searches, and interrogations targeting multiple families.
Residents reported that soldiers deployed heavily across the town’s streets and alleys, restricting movement and stopping vehicles at improvised military roadblocks.
The Jerusalem Governorate said Israeli forces detained several young men and residents, subjecting them to field interrogation in the streets and near residential areas. It added that soldiers also stormed and ransacked several homes while inspecting Palestinians’ ID cards.
Residents of Beit Duqqu noted that Israeli military invasions have intensified in recent weeks across the northwest Jerusalem villages, accompanied by increased movement restrictions and repeated assaults on civilians.
Since the beginning of this year, Israeli forces and illegal Israeli paramilitary colonizers have killed 46 Palestinians, including 12 killed by colonizers. Among the slain are 9 children, 4 women, and 1 journalist.
