On Thursday morning, thirty Palestinian students were treated for the effects of tear gas inhalation after Israeli soldiers fired tear gas bombs at them in the village of Beit Ummar near the northern part of Hebron They were commemorating the late Palestinian president, Yasser Arafat.Approximately 300 school students in Beit Ummar participated in the commemoration holding Palestinian flags and photos for the late president.

The students marched towards the main entrance of the village where the Israeli army intercepted their procession and fired tear gas.

Clouds of tear gas spread to nearby areas, including a kindergarten and a school for girls.

Several students under the age of 14 received treatment by field medics, while others suffered panic attacks; they were moved to local medical centers for treatment.
