On Thursday, two mortar shells from Gaza landed in the southern district of Israel, adjacent to the Strip. No injuries were caused, Ma’an reported. According to an Israeli spokeswoman, the shells landed in the territory of the Eshkol Regional Council, in the north-west Negev. Ma’an reported that there was no immediate claim of responsibility from Palestinian armed groups in Gaza.
The news comes a day after the Israeli airstrike that killed two brothers, Muhammad and Islam Yassin, in the centre of Gaza City. The two victims were believed to be members of the salafist Army of Islam and according to the Israeli military, they were preparing to attack Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
In addition, two weeks ago Israeli forces also killed another man, Muhammad Nimnim, under the explanation that he was a senior member in the Army of Islam.
