Political prisoners of the Hamas movement, imprisoned by the Palestinian Authority of Mahmoud Abbas, at the Jericho Prison, started an open-ended hunger strike in protest to what they called “cruel treatment and humiliation”. Their families held the Palestinian Authority’s security forces responsible for the lives of their detained family members, and stated that political prisoners detained by the Fatah controlled security forces are subjected to torture and bad treatment.
It is worth mentioned that prisoner Mohannad Nairoukh, from the southern West Bank city of Hebron, started an open-ended hunger strike five days ago after he was sent to solitary confinement despite his bad health condition.
There are dozens of political prisoners, mainly members and supporters of the Hamas movement and the Islamic Jihad, who are currently imprisoned by the Palestinian Authority.
Israeli leaders repeatedly ‘praised’ the Palestinian Authority for its tight security cooperation with the Israeli Army and the Israeli Security Forces.
