On Sunday, Israeli occupation forces killed two Palestinians and injured several others in an airstrike on Gaza City, while continuing artillery shelling and live fire across the Gaza Strip despite the “ceasefire” agreement. Civil Defense crews also continued recovering Palestinians from beneath the rubble of homes destroyed during Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on the besieged coastal enclave.
Media sources said an Israeli aircraft bombed a vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, southwest of Gaza City, killing two Palestinians and injuring several others.
Israeli artillery also shelled eastern areas of Gaza City and the vicinity of a school in the Al-Salatin area, northwest of the city. At the same time, Israeli warships opened fire toward the Gaza City coastline.
In northern Gaza, Israeli tanks and artillery fired intensively east of Jabalia and shelled the Jabalia refugee camp. Israeli military vehicles also shot and injured a Palestinian in Beit Lahia.
In central Gaza, Israeli forces fired artillery shells toward areas east of the Al-Bureij refugee camp.
In southern Gaza, Israeli forces bombarded areas east and south of Khan Younis, while Israeli military vehicles opened heavy fire southwest of the city.
The attacks followed an Israeli drone strike on Saturday that injured nine Palestinians near a tent sheltering displaced families in the Al-Mawasi area.
On Sunday, Civil Defense crews recovered the remains of 17 Palestinians from beneath the rubble of homes destroyed by Israeli forces in the Gaza and Central Gaza governorates.
According to the Civil Defense’s daily recovery report, crews recovered the remains of 16 Palestinians from destroyed homes in the Zeitoun and Yarmouk neighborhoods of Gaza City. They recovered the remains of another Palestinian from the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
Search and recovery operations continue throughout the Gaza Strip, despite the enormous destruction and severe shortages of heavy machinery and fuel. Civil Defense crews believe that large numbers of missing Palestinians remain trapped beneath the rubble.
On Saturday, the crews recovered the remains of 13 Palestinians from destroyed homes. Eight were recovered from the Zeitoun and Yarmouk neighborhoods in Gaza City, while five were recovered from the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal previously stated that more than 8,000 bodies remain buried beneath the rubble because of shortages of heavy equipment and fuel needed for recovery operations. The Government Media Office reported that more than 9,500 Palestinians have been missing since October 2023.
As part of a broader initiative to locate missing Palestinians, the first phase of recovery operations began in late November. During that phase, crews searched for 559 missing people and recovered the remains of 333 Palestinians.
The second phase includes searches beneath the rubble of 147 destroyed buildings, where an estimated 1,072 bodies may remain buried. Civil Defense crews continue working with extremely limited resources amid the unprecedented level of destruction across the Gaza Strip.
Israeli attacks have continued despite the “ceasefire” that took effect on October 11, 2025. Since then, Israeli forces have killed 1,369 Palestinians and injured 4,627 others in the Gaza Strip, while recovery crews have retrieved 831 bodies.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has killed at least 73,783 Palestinians and injured more than 174,738 others. The assault has also destroyed or damaged approximately 90 percent of the enclave’s infrastructure.
Many victims remain beneath collapsed buildings, and ambulance and rescue teams are unable to reach them because of the destruction, continuing attacks, and lack of essential equipment.
