On Wednesday, rescue teams recovered the body of a Palestinian fisherman who was killed by Israeli naval fire a day earlier, as Israeli forces continued violating the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip through artillery shelling and gunfire across several areas.
Local sources said the fisherman, identified as Wissam Barham al-Aqra’, was killed on Tuesday when Israeli navy vessels opened fire on him off the coast of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza.
On Wednesday morning, Israeli artillery shelled several areas in eastern Gaza, while Israeli military vehicles opened sustained fire.
Israeli artillery targeted eastern and southern areas of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, while military vehicles fired intensively toward areas east and south of the city.
Israeli navy vessels also fired toward the Khan Younis coastline on Wednesday morning, as Israeli drones remained continuously present over southern Gaza.
The attacks occurred amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Seven Palestinians were killed on Tuesday, bringing the number killed since Monday to eight. Among those killed was eight-year-old Amal Yasser Omar, while fourteen others were injured when Israeli forces struck tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis.
In northern Gaza City, Israeli aircraft struck a vehicle near Al-Basha Supermarket in the Saftawi area, killing Ahmad al-Batsh and injuring several Palestinians, some critically.
Two additional Palestinians were killed, and several others were injured in two Israeli strikes near the entrance of Al-Furqan Mosque in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. Another Palestinian was killed, and several others were injured, when an Israeli drone struck near the al-Baydar area in Sheikh Ajlin, west of Gaza City.
Three more injured Palestinians were taken to hospitals following a separate drone strike west of Al-Jawazat Square, while several others were wounded in another attack near Haidar Roundabout in western Gaza City.
The Israeli army has continued violating the ceasefire, which took effect on October 10, 2025, through airstrikes, artillery shelling, gunfire, and demolition operations across the Gaza Strip.
In related news, sixteen displaced Palestinians, including women and children, were killed and twenty-five others were injured when the six-story As-Saada residential building collapsed before dawn Wednesday in the As-Sina’a area, southwest of Gaza City, Al-Jazeera reported. About 100 people remained missing or trapped beneath the rubble, while search-and-rescue operations were ongoing at the time of publication.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said the number of Palestinians killed since the “ceasefire” took effect on October 11 has risen to 1,381, while 4,757 others have been injured. The bodies of 831 Palestinians have also been recovered during the same period.
It added that, since October 7, 2023, Israel has killed at least 73,795 Palestinians and injured more than 174,869 others.
