An Israeli army court decided on Monday to extend the detention of Mo’men Al Ateiliy for eight days and revoked his right to see a lawyer.
Al Ateiliy is a Palestinian judge from Ateel village near the northern West Bank city of Tulkarem. He was kidnapped on Sunday by Israeli troops manning a military checkpoint between his village and Tulkarem city. The army gave no reason for detaining Al Ateiliy.
Elsewhere, Israeli army forces invaded the village of Zayiton al Ka’abnaeh, near the southern West Bank city of Hebron on Monday morning. The Israeli forces searched and ransacked homes.
Soldiers also gave residents demolition orders for an animal farmhouse and a grocery store. The troops claimed that the two structures are built without the required military permission that is rarely given to Palestinian villagers.
Also in the southern West Bank, family members of Palestinian political detainees held by Israel and local activists protested on Monday in Bethlehem city.
Protesters gathered at the manager square near the Church on Nativity and demanded that the Israeli army release all Palestinian political detainees. They also called on the international community to force Israeli to halt its ill treatment of the prisoners.
In other news on Sunday a group of around forty right-wing Israelis attacked the Palestinian Bedouin villages of Umm al-Hiran and Rakhama in the Negev desert.
According to local residents, the right-wing Israelis attacked the villagers’ livestock, shouted racial slurs at them, and damaged their property. The attackers set fire to a tent belonging to Eid Abu Habbak, according to the head of the village council.
