Chair of the Palestinian National Council Salim Al-Zanoun met with the Secretary General of the Palestinian Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Ahmed Sa’adat in his confinement in PA Jericho prison.
The meeting with Sa’adat is part of an effort the Palestinian Liberation Organization, PLO is investing to reform its institutions and carry reforms in the National Council.
Zanoun is expected to visit Syria and Egypt to meet with heads of different Palestinian factions on the same issue.
The PFLP is one of four major factions in PLO executive committee. Its Secretary General Sa’adat has been in the PA’s custody under British supervision since May 2002 as he is allegedly accused by Israel to be behind the assassination of the Israeli Minister of Tourism Rehavam Zeevi.
The meeting, which was described as positive, lasted for three hours in which both exchanged ideas and visions on mechanisms of reform in both PLO and PNC.
Sa’adat reiterated the PFLP’s request to limit the PNC members to 300 only in which half will be in Palestine and the other half outside adding that members should be elected.
