Yuval Diskin, the new director of the Israeli Shin Bet internal security service, said Tuesday that ‘Israeli society would not be able to tolerate the murder of another prime minister.’
Speaking to the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Diskin also said ‘the killing of another prime minister would be a shockwave of strategic significance.’
Diskin expressed deep concerns that extreme Jewish right-wing figures are interested in carrying out a terrorist attack on Haram Al-Sharif and against Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
Diskin, who just took over office, is the first Shin Bet head to be more concerned about Jewish terror than “external enemies.â€Â
