A public opinion poll, conducted by Haifa University, revealed a worrying growth of extremisms and acceptance of political violence among Israelis, especially among new immigrants.

11.1% of the Jewish population agrees that in certain cases it is inevitable to use all means, including arms to prevent the government from implementing certain policies.

Surprisingly, while the percentage of those among West Bank and Gaza Strip settlers was 3.3, it reached 8.2% among Israeli Jews living within the green line.

The same poll showed that 38.2% of the new immigrants approve using violence against the government.

The percentage was found relatively high among the orthodox religious sector (14.4%) and among right wing supporters (12.6%)

Dr. Ami Bidtsor, who shared in organizing the poll commented by saying ‘the worrying results shows how divided the Israeli community is.’
