Preparations will begin next week in the Belgian capitol to announce plans to establish a joint Palestinian-Israeli maternity hospital in the town of Kisofim near the Gaza Strip.

The hospital is planned to be completed in three years and is expected to cost $20, provided by the European Union.

Both Israeli and Palestinian doctors, medics, and support employees will work together to serve residents from Palestine and Israel. The “let’s give birth together” initiative was launched by a group of Israeli and Palestinian physicians. The hospital will occupy an area of 25 acres and could be reached by Gaza residents in 45 minutes, if the “security situation allows.
