Egypt’s foreign minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said Saturday that he and his country’s intelligence chief Omar Suleiman will head to the West Bank on Monday.

The two top Egyptian officials called of a last week visit to the region following the Tuesday double bombing in the Israeli city of Be’er Sheva.

But this time the visit will be limited to the Palestinian territories.

“we will only be visiting Palestinian territories, the visit to Israel, will be later,’ Gheith told Saturday reporters after meeting the Russian foreign minister.

‘It is expected that the visit with (intelligence chief) Omar Suleiman will take place on Monday to Ramallah. This is what has been agreed until now,’ Aboul Gheit said

Palestinian Cabinet minister Saeb Erekat welcomed the visit.

‘Egyptian diplomacy is the only (force) moving to support the (Palestinian) issue and people,’ Erekat told Egypt’s Middle East News Agency
