At least two were killed and 13 were injured Wednesday in a blast on an Israeli Military checkpoint between Jerusalem and the West Bank city of Ramallah.
According to Haaretz Israeli news online, two Palestinians killed and six Palestinians and seven Israeli soldiers were injured in the blast that seems to be a car bomb.
Palestinian casualties were evacuated to Ramallah hospital while all the Israeli casualties were evacuated to Hadassah and Sheare Tzedek hospitals for treatment, two of them are in serious conditions and one is moderate, Israel medical sources said.
It is not clear however, whether a suicide bomber is among the two Palestinian dead.
Several cars in the area were also damaged because of the blast.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, claimed responsibility for the attack in a message sent to international news agencies.
In a telephone call to The Associated Press, it said the bombing was meant to avenge the killing of a leader of the group by Israel last month.
Initial reports suggested that the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber who drove south from the direction of Ramallah to a temporary checkpoint set up by security forces between Qalandia and nearby A-Ram. The bomber detonated his explosives when he reached the impromptu checkpoint.
The checkpoint where the blast took place is located between Qalandia and Al-Ram checkpoints between Ramallah and Jerusalem. The distance between Al-Ram checkpoint and Qalandia checkpoint is around 10 kilometers
