National Security Adviser and head of the disengagement coordination team, Giora Eiland said on Wednesday that the evacuation of settlements in the Gaza Strip and the northern West Bank will begin in late 2005.

Eiland, also told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Security Committee that they will try to enable settlers who want to leave earlier to do so by September 1, 2005, to enable the children to enroll in schools prior to the start of the new school year.

According to the revised disengagement plan, approved by the Israeli government, the 21 Gaza Strip settlements and four out of the 120 West Bank settlements will be evacuated in four stages, each stage to be approved by the Cabinet.

Eiland also told the Israeli Radio that Israel will stop employing Palestinian workers from Gaza Strip by the end of 2008.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip believe there will be no withdrawal from the Strip as Israel continues to do construction work on some of the settlements there.
