Prisoners Supporters Society in the Galilee reported that Detainee Yassin Mohammad Abdul-Khaliq Qasem has been in detention since three years after he was arrested in his parents’ home in Beit Hanoun, in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli Authorities claimed that Yassin was illegally staying in the country.ÂÂ
Yassin came to the Gaza Strip as a visitor on September, 30, 1995, after obtaining a permit from the Palestinian Authority, during his visit Yassin got sick and underwent several periods of medical treatment until September, 11, 2002 when he was arrested by the Israeli army and remained in detention without trial.
Later on, an Israeli court ruled that Yassin should be deported to Egypt since he “wasn’t able to prove that he is a Palestinianâ€Â; the parents of Yassin are Palestinians from Beit Hanoun.
After the decision to deport him was issued, the Egyptian Authorities refused to receive him in Egypt ‘since he is a Palestinian and not an Egyptian’.
Detainee Yassin appealed the P.A and Egypt to interfere and solve his crises adding that there are 45 similar cases in Israel prisons.
Yassin is suffering from several health problems, and needs proper medical treatment and attention.
