Iz Ed-Deen al-Qassam brigades, the military wing of Hamas reported that one of its fighters died near Beit Hanoun, in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.

The brigades stated that Baker Hammouda Mustafa, 21, from Beit Lahia, was killed while he was attempting to plant an explosive near a military base.

Fighter killed, two injured north of the Gaza Strip

A Palestinian security source reported that one resident was killed, two injured in an explosion outside a building in Beit Hanoun, in the northern Gaza Strip.

The source stated that Baker Mustafa Hammouda, 23, said to be a member of Hamas, was killed when an explosive charge detonated while he was carrying it; two other members were injured.

The Israeli army believes that the explosion occurred while the three men were preparing an explosive device when it detonated before they managed to place it near Ely Sinai settlement.

The Israeli army said that it is probing the incident, and added that soldiers were not operating in the blast area.

The army said that this explosion is apparently a “Hamas work accident”.
