Armed fighters broke into the Palestinian Legislative Council building and the Ministry of Detainees in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, on Tuesday afternoon, a Palestinian security source in Gaza reported.

The men, apparently freed detainees, broke into the two building in protest to not being employed until now by the Palestinian Authority. In addition to demanding jobs, they called on the P.A. to move against corruption.

On Monday evening, an unknown group hurled a hand grenade at the Gaza City home of the Palestinian Attorney General, Hussein Abu Assi. The explosion ripped through the front of Abu Assi’s house, collapsing the front wall outside the house and destroying the main gate.

It is still unclear if Abu Assi was at home at the time of the blast; the Palestinian police did not comment on the explosion. There was no claim of responsibility for the blast.

A source at the Palestinian Authority said that the explosion was linked to death sentences approved by Assi.
